about us

ecopapershapes was set up by Sam Lewis and Sophie Carter. We are two mums who love making stuff with our kids but hate spending money on garish synthetic craft products that get used once and then get binned. We started to wonder if all those spangly plastic shapes, craft foam cut-outs, nylon pom poms, dyed feathers, lollipop sticks and googly stick-on eyes were really that creative after all. We also knew that they definitely didn’t belong in the recycling bin.

We wanted to encourage our kids to be creative without being wasteful. We wanted to liberate them to play and explore rather than relying on a craft materials supplier’s narrow idea of what they should enjoy making. We believe that craft with kids should be simple, creative, environmentally-friendly and FUN. We’re not completely anti-glitter; we just believe that costly craft products are no substitute for imagination. But we appreciate that you may not have the time to cut out millions of little bits of paper for your kids to play around with – so we’ve done that bit for you.

Our aim is to provide you with the basic materials; what you do with them is up to you. We’ve provided some examples of how to use ecopapershapes but we’re certain you can think of plenty more. We can’t wait to see what you come up with...

We'd love to hear from you, whether it's to tell us what ecopapershapes you'd like to see or to show us what you've made with them. Get in touch with us here.
